About Takeuchi
What Do We Make?
Takeuchi Mfg. Co., Ltd. is a compact construction machinery manufacturer founded in 1963.
Our main products are mini excavators (under 6 tons), hydraulic excavators (6 tons and above), and crawler loaders. With the development of the world’s first mini excavator and the world’s first crawler loader, we pioneered new markets and have continued to grow by consistently meeting global needs.
Mini Excavators and Hydraulic Excavators
1971 - Began production of the world’s first 360-degree full-rotation mini excavator (TB1000).
The machine was developed in response to requests from job sites where manual labor with pickaxes and shovels was the norm. Workers expressed that “the physical burden is just too great—can’t this be mechanized?” As a result, the TB1000 was created. It was quickly embraced across construction sites, as it could complete in a single day the same work that previously took a full week by hand, leading to its rapid adoption.
Main Applications of Mini Excavators and Hydraulic Excavators
- Foundation work for residential construction
- Installation of essential infrastructure such as gas pipes, water pipes, and roads
- Public and private construction projects, including factories, commercial facilities, and public facilitie
Crawler Loader
1986 – Began production of the world’s first crawler loader (TL20).
The crawler loader, used for transporting soil, debris, snow, and similar materials, is a machine that replaces the wheeled undercarriage of a skid-steer loader with crawler tracks.
Development began after seeing that wheeled loaders often became stuck and unusable on muddy worksites after rain. The crawler design greatly improved stability and performance on uneven or muddy terrain, earning high praise in the United States, where clay-rich soil is common.
Main Applications of Crawler Loaders
- Transporting soil and materials excavated by shovels
- Excavating and leveling ground surfaces
- Performing various tasks — such as livestock farming, horticultural work, and snow removal — by replacing the bucket attachment at the arm’s tip
Lithium-ion Battery-Powered Mini Excavator
2021 – Began shipments of the world’s first electric excavator (TB20e)
Aiming to create environmentally friendly products, we began developing battery-powered mini excavators over ten years ago. The TB20e, launched ahead of competitors worldwide, was designed around the concept of offering “the same usability as before.” It’s an eco-friendly, lithium-ion battery-powered mini excavator that delivers power and operating time equivalent to a diesel engine — while producing zero emissions and operating at low noise levels. This makes it ideal for nighttime construction, urban worksites, food-processing facilities, and indoor demolition where quiet, clean operation is required.
Currently, battery-powered mini excavators face challenges such as high initial cost, long charging times, and insufficient charging infrastructure. Despite these issues, the global commitment to decarbonization remains firm. Anticipating the inevitable shift toward electrification, we continue to advance the development of emission-free, low-noise, and environmentally friendly battery-powered excavators.
Main Applications of Lithium-Ion Battery-Powered Mini Excavators
- Construction work in densely populated urban and residential areas
- Underground or indoor construction sites
- Nighttime construction

What Sets Us Apart?
Our Strengths
Our greatest strength lies in the high market evaluation of our products — not only for their power, but also for their durability, operability, comfort, and ease of maintenance. We believe that machines which are reliable and rarely break down, that minimize operator fatigue during long hours of work, and that seamlessly integrate operator and machine performance to maximize productivity — are what truly lead to higher customer satisfaction.
While it’s difficult to capture the essence of “the Takeuchi way” in a single phrase, our products are widely recognized for their durability under harsh conditions, smooth and precise control, spacious, fatigue-reducing operator environments, and maintenance-friendly designs that ensure long service life. Altogether, these qualities form the foundation of our strong reputation for total product quality.

Takeuchi's People
If you’re driven to make an impact and ready to help dealers and customers succeed, Takeuchi is where you belong.
A Business Model That Brings Global Needs to Life
Every manufacturer uses customer feedback in product development — that’s a given. What sets our group apart is the speed with which we incorporate that feedback into our products and the breadth and depth of our response. Our construction machines are used in a wide variety of environments around the world, and the required functions and performance vary accordingly. For us, “global” doesn’t simply mean geographic reach — it means diversity. By carefully tailoring product specifications and options, and by making continual improvements and adding new features shortly after release, we strive to meet our customers’ diverse needs and maximize satisfaction.
Our group has established a robust sales network through subsidiaries in the U.S., the U.K., and France, along with distributors and dealers in many countries. These partners are professionals deeply familiar with local climates, terrain, and usage conditions. Through distributor meetings held several times a year, they deliver the genuine voices of end users directly to us. By listening closely to the realities of the field and quickly reflecting them in our products, we have steadily built strong trust with our customers and grown our base of loyal Takeuchi fans worldwide.
Once a company defines its “position” too rigidly, its mindset becomes fixed. Instead, by staying flexible and proactive, we ensure that adaptability remains the driving force behind the growth of our development teams, our sales operations, and the entire Takeuchi Group.
Future Takeuchi
Our investor philosophy reflects the same values found in our machines: precision, durability, and accountability—built for the long term.
